February 4, 2021 Updates

Dear Sundowners Families,

An announcement was made by the Provincial Government that all schools in Windsor-Essex County will resume with in-person learning on Monday, February 8, 2021. We are happy to announce that all Sundowners before and after school programs will re-open for regular operation on Monday February 8, 2021.

Please review these important updates:

1. All children in grades 1 through 8 are now required to wear cloth masks while in attendance at child care. Preschool and kindergarten children are not required, however are encouraged to wear cloth masks while at child care.

2. Children should be screened prior to attending child care, however active in-person screening will take place in the before school program with a Sundowners staff member. This will include a temperature reading as well as completing the online school and child care screening tool with a staff member. If you or your child are ill, your child should remain home, and contact should be made with their primary care physician. Please note that screening may take longer than usual as our staff are adjusting to using our iPads for screening purposes. Parents are still asked to refrain from entering the building and to wait for a Sundowners employee to screen and escort their child(ren) to their respective classrooms.

3. February 12, 2021 is a PA Day for both Public and Catholic schools. A decision has been made to operate the Preschool programs ONLY on this day. Unfortunately, kindergarten and school age programs will not be offered at our full service centres for this PA day due to a lack of timing to adequately prepare. Currently, we are looking at March Break and considering running school age programs for the week. More information will follow regarding March Break soon.

4. Accounting is diligently working to reconcile all accounts and you will be contacted by your site supervisor in the coming weeks to discuss any outstanding balances if/when applicable.

5. If care is no longer required due to a change in learning model, please contact your site supervisor to discuss next steps.
