 – Visit Sundowners at our Talbot Trail Centre-

Sundowners Day Care and Resource Centre at our Talbot Trail Centre was extremely pleased to be host to 17 girls ages ranging from 15 to 17 years old from Windsor’s sister city Fujisawa, Japan.  Mrs. Sue Sheridan an ESL teacher from Talbot Trail School arranged for the girls to visit Sundowners Child Care Centre as part of their overall experience in Windsor, Ontario Canada.  The girls came dressed in traditional Japanese outfits and visited with Sundowners kindergarten and school age children who are attending the summer program.  They shared their culture and sang some traditional Japanese songs; taught the children some familiar Japanese words; and did a number of traditional Japanese arts and crafts with the children.  Children also learned how to create their name using Japanese writing.   A big hit was when the students taught the school age children the art of origami. The goal for the girls from Japan is to exchange and practice cultural, language and educational experiences which they did by reading to the children from English picture books which they practiced doing prior to their visit.  The girls experiences also extended beyond their visit to Sundowners to visits to places like Point Pelee National Park, Fort Malden and even a trip to Niagara Falls.  What a wonderful opportunity and experience for both the children at Sundowners and the exchange student from Fujisawa, Japan. Thanks to Ann Danychuck and Mary-Kay Savaage, Supervisors at Sundowners  and to Ms. Simha Teshuba, the Assistant Director of Muskoka Language International Exchange 2015 and Ms. Yka Simazato, Japanese Teacher.  And Thank you to all our Sundowners summer staff at Talbot Trail.
