Sundowners Celebrates International MUD Day!

Visit our Photo Galley to see how Sundowners Celebrated – MUD DAY!

June 29, 2015 was declared International Mud Day and children and early childhood professionals – and anyone else – all over the world celebrated nature, outdoors, and mess by getting really muddy.   Sundowners at Dougall, Talbot Trail, King Edward and General Brock all took advantage and to celebrate International MUD Day by getting out there to play in the MUD.  There were a wide variety of MUD play at each centre and depending on how your children chose to celebrate.  You may have noticed your child may have been a little dirtier then usual…but they had FUN!  Our great staff of qualified ECE’s are always on hand to assist and provide for fun and exciting play opportunities especially outside.  Families are encouraged to take an opportunity to extend outdoor fun with their children to play in the mud.  Join with your own children this summer and take the time to explore all the natural benefits of mud, and nature and the great outdoors.  Remember back to when you were a child and what kind of experiences you enjoyed on summer vacation.  Share some of your best and most noted memories with your child.  Honour the goodness of life experiences when children connect with nature.

The benefits of playing in the MUD!

Studies have shown dirt to be good for your brain.  Apparently, there are types of bacteria that are naturally found in soil which activate the neurons that produce serotonin-a key chemical in many bodily functions, as well as a natural anti-depressant.  “In other words, dirt can actually help make you feel happy!

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO CELEBRATE!
