Making Your Own Tracks and Trails

To make an impression of your cat or dogs paw print

Buy a bag of Plaster-of-Paris from drug shop or craft store. Cut out some thin strips of cardboard about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Find a clear footprint from an animal in your backyard, try and find one that is away from grass and plants.

Bend your cardboard strip into a circle that will fit over the footprint. Hold it together with a paper clip. Push the card circle into the mud or dirt. Pour 2 ounces of water into a jelly jar. Add Plaster- of Paris with a stick. The mixture should be thick like cream.

Pour mixture into your card circle until it fills the footprint and is about 1/2 inch from the top. Let it be. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to dry. Carefully lift up your cast, and peel away cardboard. When the cast is dry, brush off dirt with old toothbrush. You can paint the footprint.
