What do they call the Dog Days of Summer?

The phrase was coined 2,500 years ago after the Dog Star, Sirius, which becomes visible in the Northern Hemisphere in Mid-July. The ancient Greeks believed Sirius’s light caused temperatures to soar. Sirius does burn almost twice as hotly as our sun, but it’s much toofar away to have any effect on the Earth’s climate.
